Outdoor fitness classes

I run outdoor fitness classes in Princes Park, Carlton North, and it’s genuinely one of my favourite things to do! Not many people know that you can still use a personal trainer outside the gym, but for a lot of people, it may be the perfect approach to fitness if you want the benefits of a personal trainer without gym membership.

Outdoor fitness programs allow you to do your exercises while enjoying the fresh air and surrounded by greenery. We can work with or without fitness park equipment, adapting our workouts every time. Just you, me, and the great outdoors is more than enough to reach your fitness goals!

 Benefits of outdoor fitness classes

Over the years, I’ve realised that everyone has a different motivation that will push them to achieve the fitness goals they’ve set for themselves. Not everyone is built the same way, and while some are perfectly happy to do all their exercising at the gym, there are those that are simply wired to enjoy exercising outdoors much more!

You can save on gym memberships

If you’ve found that being at the gym simply doesn’t motivate you, outdoor fitness classes allow you to still benefit from physical activity.

It’s an eco-friendly option (no electricity needed)

When exercising outdoors, you don’t need to use electricity. Just you, your body, and maybe some light equipment is more than enough to get the most out of your workout.

Promotes friendship and socialisation

If you choose to exercise in small group personal training classes, you’ll enjoy the added benefit of connecting with other people and sparking friendships!

It makes exercise more accessible

A big open green space is accessible to people of all abilities, ages, genders, and fitness levels. It’s an environment that allows me to adapt your fitness plan to your specific goals and fitness level!

Nature can reduce stress

Research has shown that just looking at greenery can reduce stress and increase general sense of well-being. This, in turn, will motivate you to keep exercising outdoors, creating a long-term healthy habit that will benefit you for years to come.

Get the D! Vitamin D that is!

Vitamin D deficiency can lead to a multitude of health problems including cancer and heart disease, and unfortunately it has become a big issue in our modern world! Exercising outdoors allows your body to be exposed to sunlight, and thus Vitamin D.

You can have a change in scenery

If recent events have shown us anything, it’s that our mental health suffers when we are cooped up in one place for too long.

Outdoor fitness classes give you a chance to enjoy a much-needed change in scenery, which does wonders for your mental health.

It gets your eyes off your screens

Look, it’s no secret that too much screen time has become a problem in our society. We have become really attached to our phones, tablets, laptops, and televisions. Outdoor personal training requires that you put away your devices and be intentionally present the entire time.

"I’ve been a member of RIBK from day 1 and my fitness would be lost without it. My main classes are resistance and cardio and I go to as many classes as I can each week. The classes are fun and challenging and friendly - everyone works at their own level, with no competitiveness on exercises or fashion! We all just want to be reasonably fit and have a good time doing it. We all really appreciate the variety, the tips on technique, and the fun vibe. Thanks Kate and please keep it up!"

Outdoor options for all sorts

Small group personal training

Outdoor fitness training is made that much more fun when you’re a part of a group. I’ve coordinated outdoor fitness training for groups of strangers, family members, and even mums groups before. It doesn’t matter if you know each other well or not at all, group fitness outdoor training is an enjoyable experience for all involved.

Small group personal training classes can be arranged, based on my availability. You can choose to have your small group personal training sessions at a time that suits your group best, usually morning or evening so we can avoid the hot afternoon sun!

The best part of outdoor fitness classes in a group setting is that there will be different options for the different levels of fitness and ability in the group. I always make sure that everyone gets a workout that is suited to your skill level, while still allowing you to enjoy numerous benefits of group classes.

Outdoor fitness bootcamp

If you’re after something more challenging, I also run outdoor fitness bootcamp that is high intensity and chock full of exercises that can challenge even the fittest of the fit! So if you’re looking to push yourself to another level in your fitness journey, this can be a fantastic way to do it.

Outdoor fitness drills are intense and challenging, but I always find ways to make it fun. You can expect varied exercise for all my outdoor fitness sessions. More importantly, you’ll get the most out of your training with me by your side!

Outdoor fitness for mums

Becoming a mother is a huge transformation on so many levels. While it’s an incredibly rewarding experience, the sense of exhaustion and isolation experienced by mums with your children can be overwhelming at times. Self-care - including exercise - goes out the window when you’re in a situation like that.

However, exercise has been shown to do wonders for mums specifically. This is especially true of outdoor exercises, as it allows for a family-friendly environment where mums don’t have to choose between their babies and their own needs. I always encourage mums to bring their bubs along, and it’s always a lively atmosphere!

I believe exercise should be accessible to all, and that definitely includes the hardworking mothers who give their all to their families. You deserve time to work on your fitness and have fun while you’re at it!

“Training with Kate in person has been great. Kate is always encouraging and knows just how to push us to reach our personal goals. She’s less about specific outcomes and rather supports us to just be stronger, healthier and happier. She takes the time to offer personal modifications when we need them.”
